SELECT PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Elizabeth Daniel Vasquez has focused on the intersection of data, science, technology and the criminal legal system for more than a decade.

​

  • In addition to running E. Daniel Vasquez Consulting, Elizabeth founded and is President of the non-profit The Forensic Evidence Table

​

  • She is also a Coordinating Discovery Attorney for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Defender Services Office. 

 

Prior to founding her consulting firm and non-profit, Elizabeth created and ran the Science & Surveillance Project and the Forensic Science Practice at Brooklyn Defender Services; worked as a staff attorney and member of the forensic practice group in the trial division of the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia; and litigated wrongful conviction and civil rights cases involving forensic error and misconduct throughout the country at Neufeld Scheck & Brustin, LLP

Through her work, Elizabeth has cultivated deep technical and strategic experience working with experts, lawyers, and investigators across disciplines on cases involving complex science, technology, and data science. Elizabeth is a qualified STRmix user.

SELECT TEACHING AND TRAINING EXPERIENCE

  • Elizabeth serves as an adjunct professor of law at New York University School of Law, where she teaches classes on artificial intelligence and criminal law. 

​

  • She also serves on the steering committee and faculty for the National Forensic College, an advanced, week-long training program for experienced attorneys that focuses on equipping lawyers to understand and address emerging scientific and technical methods in criminal cases. 

​

  • Elizabeth actively trains attorneys, investigators, judges, and court staff nationwide on DNA analysis including probabilistic genotyping systems like STRmix, surveillance technologies, and machine learning/artificial intelligence technologies:
